Twin Towers, Twin Decades

We’re coming up on two decades since 911. It was an event that defined an entire generation. The ripple effects spread in more directions than could be accurately tracked; the surveillance state, international wars, changes in economic trajectories. But perhaps most importantly, it seems like we became a nation that no longer trusted each other.

And yet, in the days following the attack on the WTC, I remember, in NY in particular a sense of solidarity, support and one of neighborhood community: we were in this together, and we would prevail together.

In the two decades that have followed the attack, we’ve seen togetherness, separation, and everything in between.

It seems only fitting to put our thoughts and feelings to poetry.
