Join The Poetry Forms Chapbook Challenge 2022!
June 7th-17th 2022

Our poetry challenges have been exceedingly popular. And one thing that has been on the rise lately has been a return to learn and write form poetry. People have been asking for more courses/challenges to do with poetry forms, and so we've responded!

We've lived in an age of free-verse poetry for awhile, and free-verse is great, but there is also a long, long (thousands of years) tradition of form poetry from various parts of the world.

Some forms are very old, some are very new, but all are interesting ways to inspire us and help us write!

Poetry form is deeply rooted in the so many cultures around the world.

Forms are challenging, forms are fun, and forms help us discipline our writing.

Ideal for the poet who is looking to learn some new forms or brush up on forms they already know, we invite you to join the Poetry Forms Chapbook Challenge!

How Does It Work?

Step 1:
You register for the challenge.
Step 2:
June 7th -17th you write a poem, or two poems a day.

All participants are free to use the main prompts, prompts from the journal or any other ideas or inspiration they have for writing their poems, the only hard and fast rule is to write the 15 form poems in 10 days!

Printing

If the challenge is completed, the participant can inform us of the completion and then have the opportunity for Local Gems Press to print a chapbook for them--the finished chapbooks will be pocket-sized books, 4.25 by 6.9.
