Join The 13 Days of Halloween Chapbook Challenge!
October 19th-October 31st 2022

Are you a fan of scary stories? Does the mood and the theme of the Halloween season give you a feeling of excitement you only get once a year? Do you still enjoy good writing in a world overcome with movies? Then why should television and movies get all the fun?

We are very excited to bring you this Halloween themed writing challenge!

How Does It Work?

Step 1:
You register for the challenge.
Step 2:
October 19th-October 31st ,
you write a poem a day.
(Or prose poem or even a flash fiction!)
Each day you will get a poetry prompt video emailed to you.

Step 3:
If you complete the challenge, you will have an opportunity to get the chapbook printed!

100 Poetry Prompts
Book Included!

Participation:

Each day of the contest the participants will be emailed a Halloween/fall themed  prompt video for the day. They will also receive the 100 Poetry Prompt downloadable workbook the first day of the challenge. All participants are free to use the main prompts, prompts from the journal or any other ideas or inspiration they have for writing their poems, the only hard and fast rule is to write a poem a day for all 13 days. Participants are also free to write prose-poems, narrative poems or flash fiction (around 1200 words or less) for their daily piece.

Printing

If the challenge is completed, the participant can inform us of the completion and then have the opportunity for Local Gems Press to print a chapbook for them--the finished chapbooks will be pocket-sized books, 4.25 by 6.9.

Will you accept the challenge?
